I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, and through the CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research, under the supervision of Dr. Peter Rosenbaum. My research used mixed-methods to evaluate the engagement of participants in an international integrated knowledge translation study.Ìý
I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ in the Person-Centred Health Informatics Lab, under the supervision of ProfessorÌýSara Ahmed. My researchÌýfocused on the development, implementation, and evaluation of e-health technologies.Ìý
I completed my PhD studies at the School of Physical & Occupational Therapy at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, under the supervision of Professor Annette Majnemer. MyÌýdoctoral research focused on enhancing early-identification of children with cerebral palsy (CP). IÌýusedÌýmixed-methods and an integrated knowledge translation (KT) approach to create educational KTÌýtools for primary-care practitioners (family physicians, pediatricians, nurse practitioners) and parents to increase awareness of the early-motor signs of CP that should promptÌýreferral for diagnostic assessment, as well asÌýsimultaneous referral for rehabilitation services, for children suspected of having CP.
I amÌýan occupational therapist with over a decade of clinical experience working with two very different clienteles. Initially IÌýworkedÌýin pediatric physicalÌýrehabilitation, primarily with children and young adults with complex motor and communication impairments, most of who required the use of assistive technology for mobility and/orÌýaugmentative and alternative and communication (AAC) for communication. I then moved into the field of adult psychosocial rehabilitation, working in the Department of Psychiatry at the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Health Centre, where I was fortunate to work with a diverse clientele across clinics (primarily people living with schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders, and substance abuse/addiction). I have also beenÌýteaching acrossÌýthe psychosocial and pediatric neurodevelopmentalÌýcurriculaÌýof SPOT's B.Sc. Rehabilitation Science in Occupational Therapy programÌý&ÌýMaster of Science (Applied) in Occupational Therapy professional programÌýsince 2011.Ìý
