Overview

Curriculum and Instruction : Students will begin by considering definitions and theories of literacy and by tracking the historical development of literate practices and pedagogies. The physical, cognitive, social and cultural aspects of literacy will be investigated. In addition, students will explore the acquisition and evolution of literacy in children and adolescents. Finally, students will look at the implications of computer and media literacy.

Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2010-2011 academic year.
