Graduate Certificate (Gr. Cert.) Aviation Leadership (24 credits)

Program Requirements

The Graduate Certificate in Aviation Leadership program focuses on developing leadership competencies for individuals who wish to advance their careers in aviation. Participants will be exposed to innovative leadership practices, diverse workplace leadership, effective communication and negotiation, and data analytics. The Program uses a learner-centered instructional methodology, fostering a deeper understanding of aviation-related concepts and empowering learners to integrate what they have learned about leadership into immediate practice. Courses are also designed to focus on problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Courses incorporate aviation-related simulations, experiential activities, case studies, and guest speakers who are industry leaders with expertise in airlines, airports, air navigation, aerospace manufacturing, and other related areas.

  • CGM2 610 Project Management: Tools and Techniques. (3 credits)

    Overview

    Management : Analysis of the development, scheduling, and planning of projects in both public and private organizations. Focus on theories of project management from initiation of a project to close-out. Exploration of project life cycle, planning, scheduling, implementing, monitoring, controlling, close-out and ethics applicable to projects of various sizes, types and degrees of complexity.

  • CIAM 550 Commun and Networking Skills for Aviation Professionals (3 credits)

    Overview

    CIAM : This course focuses on the tools and techniques required by aviation professionals to analyze, interpret and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders in various contexts. It also provides participants with the opportunity to develop and hone their presentation skills. Topics include: persuasion and influence, collaboration, situation appraisal, business networking, oral and written communication, risk and crisis communication, digital communication, and cross-cultural communication.

  • CIAM 552 Analytics and Bus. Intelligence for Aviation Professionals (3 credits)

    Overview

    CIAM : This course focuses on the practical application of concepts, knowledge, and computational techniques of data analytics to identify and solve business problems and improve organizational decision making in the aviation industry. Students will analyze and interpret data, and apply insights obtained from inside and outside aviation-related organizations to optimize strategic decision-making and improve operations, productivity and business results.

  • CPL2 532 Leading Change (3 credits)

    Overview

    Policy : Leading and managing change issues, including the leader as a change agent and the change process itself. Various models of change and change leadership will be reviewed, as well as follower reluctance or resistance to change and strategies that leaders can use to gain follower commitment.

  • CPL2 634 Leading in Diverse and Inclusive Workplaces (3 credits)

    Overview

    Policy : Exploration of how to successfully lead diverse and inclusive organizations. Analysis of a variety of trends that have made managing workforce diversity an essential competency for leaders to succeed in an inclusive environment.

    Overview

    Policy : Analysis of strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision-making in organizations in response to changing conditions. Exploration of directions and goals of private and public organizations, environments (social, political, technological, economic, and global factors), industry, and market structures, and organizational strengths and weaknesses that are critical for success in a changing environment.
