Community Engagement Day 2013
SEDE (Social Equity and Diversity Education Office) is hosting its second annual聽Community Engagement Day,聽Friday, October 4th.
Registration for the event ends on October 3rd at noon.聽
CED connects students, staff and faculty volunteers with community organizations in Montreal such as the Native Women's Shelter, Yellow Door, Santropol Roulant, and 40+ other social advocacy organizations.聽Activities include public discussions, sitting volleyball, filming a sign language music video, community聽walking tours, urban聽gardening, mural painting, youth mentorship, and more!聽
Each activity is followed by a reflection discussion in order to foster deeper engagement and learning about societal issues that make these organizations necessary. CED is a great way to leave the 成人VR视频 bubble and learn from the many diverse communities in Montreal. CED working with many 成人VR视频 and Montreal groups including 成人VR视频's Office Of Sustainability, SSMU, and Quartier d'Innovation to name a few.
For staff:聽Please encourage your staff and colleagues to register individually or in groups for one or more of the 46 projects we have to choose from. We also have projects on Saturday, Oct. 5th if it is difficult to take time off on the Friday.聽
For faculty:聽Perhaps there is one or two that apply to your class work? I would be happy to suggest related projects based on your needs, as we have projects related to education, science, urban planning, architecture, social economy, Let me know dates and times if you would like the CED team to come to your class for a short presentation about the event.聽
For students:聽We encourage student clubs and groups to apply, and CED is a great way for new students to explore the city, and discover organizations they may want to be involved with during their time at 成人VR视频 and beyond.聽
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Learn By Doing at 成人VR视频's 2nd Annual Community Engagement Day
We have 43 activities across the city that focus on issues from food security to indigenous feminism. These activities are scheduled throughout the day, all around Montreal and can last from 2-4 hours.
