Ayukawa and Schwarzbaum explained that the project was focused on three aspects: living, learning, and community.

8 to  12 students will be living in the ECOLE house, working towards material and social sustainability. Each of these students will also be expected to do an independent research project on the topic. Ayukawa and Schwarzbaum told Council that ECOLE will serve as a much-needed physical space for both sustainability communities in ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ and Milton-Parc.

Councillor Courtney Ayukawa and former ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ student Lily Schwarzbaum, coordinators of the project, gave a presentation which outlined the history, outlook, and timeline of progress of the project.

The house will be located in the Milton-Parc community and is financially backed by the Students’ Society of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ (SSMU). The project plans to transform a current student residence into a sustainable living space for eight to ten undergraduate student facilitators, who will be determined through an application process that has not yet been released.
