Overview
In聽the African Studies program, you can develop a deeper understanding of the African continent聽and its peoples,聽from聽the history,聽religions and cultures聽of different regions,聽to聽contemporary聽postcolonial literature,聽issues in聽health聽and聽economic聽development.聽These聽interdisciplinary courses聽can lead聽to a Minor or Major Concentration.聽聽
Established in 1969, the program was the first of its kind in Canada.聽You will gain an appreciation for聽the contributions聽that聽Africans have made聽to world culture and civilization, and an awareness of the聽factors affecting this聽continent's current struggle to achieve development.
