Lara Khoury named Canada Research Chair
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Lara Khoury, Ad E, has been named Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Liability, Health Governance, and Social Change. The appointment is for a seven-year term.
A full professor, Lara Khoury is a leading expert in the fields of comparative medical, public health and environmental law, with a focus on liability. She is co-founder of the 成人VR视频 Research Group on Health and Law (RGHL), which serves as an important interdisciplinary bridge between researchers at 成人VR视频 and the community interested in advancing health law and policy. In January 2024, she was appointed associate vice-president of research at 成人VR视频.
Professor Khoury鈥檚 scholarship has been cited nearly 60 times by Canadian judges 鈥� including twice by the Supreme Court. She is the author of Uncertain Causation in Medical Liability (Hart Publishing; French translation by Yvon Blais), which received the 2004 Prix Minerve and the 2008 Quebec Bar Foundation Prize. In 2019, she was elected a titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law, and she received the Barreau du Qu茅bec's鈥疉dvocatus Emeritus鈥�(Ad E) designation. In 2023, she received the Canadian Bar Association鈥檚 prestigious Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award.
The Canada Research Chairs Program is part of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world鈥檚 top countries in research and development.
