Thomas Engelhardt appointed Chair of the Department of Anesthesia
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Engelhardt, MD, PhD, as Chair of the Department of Anesthesia, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), 成人VR视频.
Dr. Engelhardt will take over as Chair from Thomas Schricker, MD, PhD, who has held the position for two consecutive terms since 2016. We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Schricker for his dedication to the Department. His achievements as Chair are many and include the transition of the Anesthesia residency program into the new Competency by Design curriculum in 2017; building on 成人VR视频鈥檚 leadership鈥攊n collaboration with the Department of Surgery鈥攁s the first institution in North America to implement Enhanced Recovery after Surgery; and establishing the Transition into Clinical Practice (TCP) curriculum at 成人VR视频鈥檚 Campus Outaouais.

On Friday, February 20, 2026,听our residents dominated the Residents鈥� Trivia Game, proudly bringing home the coveted trophy and showcasing their brilliance under pressure.
The excitement continued on Saturday as Noha Elsherbini and Frederick-Yvon McAuliffe represented our program with flair at the Resident Grand Rounds Competition. They each delivered exceptionally engaging, instructive, and professional presentations.
- Noha Elsherbini presented 鈥�Frontal EEG Monitoring: Beyond the BIS鈥� and secured an impressive 2nd place with a $300 award!
- Frederick-Yvon McAuliffe presented 鈥�Breathing Through the Pain: Revisiting Methoxyflurane in Modern Medicine.鈥�

SteigerKI Award Launches in Saarland
Dr. Thomas Hemmerling and 成人VR视频 Team Inspire Next Generation of AI Innovators
On April 10, 2025, Dr. Thomas Hemmerling, Professor of Anesthesiology at 成人VR视频 and native of Saarbr眉cken, Germany, inaugurated the SteigerKI Award in his home province of Saarland, initiating a new chapter in Franco-German educational collaboration.听Dr. Hemmerling, whose ITAG laboratory () at 成人VR视频 is internationally recognized for research in robotics and AI, established the SteigerKI Award to give back to the region where he benefited from an excellent school system.
