The Position

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent will be working with CAnD3 and may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of low complexity and the incumbent performs them using precise instructions provided by his/her immediate supervisor or other team members. The incumbent will help develop a communication strategy and will focus on communications support and communicaitons translation in French.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Translates documents from English to French.

  • Will have to translate the CAnD3 website, in order to set up the French version of the website.

  • Receives, sends and helps prepare promotional materials.

  • Prepares documents such as promotional materials, marketing materials and emails. Such preparation may include taking photos, sorting, collating, filing, scanning, photocopying and shredding

  • Performs specific editing and reviewing of documents, audio, video and web maintenance as required. Some graphic design and photo editing may be required.

  • Monitors and posts social media content to various platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn.

  • Acts as a liaison between the unit and internal or external parties to provide various assistance or information.

  • Produces promotional material such as flyers, posters, videos and newsletters for use in reports, workshops and info sessions.

  • The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbents may be asked to perform some elements of Communications Assistant level 鈥淎鈥 and/or 鈥淏鈥 in addition to the above listed functions.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Currently registered as a full-time student in any degree program at 成人VR视频

  • Must be bilingual French-English

The Position

The position will be hosted in the Department of Sociology at 成人VR视频, Montr茅al, Qu茅bec, Canada. Taking direction from the CAnD3 Director and Associate Director, the CAnD3 project administrator will execute the day-to-day operations. They will be required to apply independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities, and take initiative to support the realisation of CAnD3鈥檚 program goals. Further, the CAnD3 project administrator is responsible for the effective implementation and communication of the Director鈥檚 vision.

The CAnD3 project administrator responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating CAnD3 online and face-to-face training modules and related CAnD3 partner activities;
  • Coordinating the CAnD3 governance committees, in collaboration with CAnD3鈥檚 Director and committee chairs;
  • Developing, and implementing data collection of evaluations, annual modified Delphi, surveys, and other data collection with trainees, team members, and partners;
  • Collaborating and liaising closely with CAnD3 Director, committee chairs, staff, team members and partners;
  • Creating and managing a project schedule;
  • Developing and implementing administrative systems and processes;
  • Planning and hosting special events including conferences and workshops;
  • Assisting with or leading CAnD3 communications, including report writing to partners and funding agencies

The position will commence as soon as possible.

Education/Experience

  • A university degree in a field conferring formal training in project management, communications, or a field related to the social or health sciences (e.g. sociology, demography, economics, epidemiology, health services, public policy, business analytics);
  • At least 1-year project coordination experience;
  • Strong ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written, is required and written French proficiency is a strong asset;
  • Excellent planning, facilitation, and project coordination skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills;
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to draft internal and external communications;
  • Excellent attention to detail;

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. in sociology, demography or a population research-related discipline and demonstrated interest and expertise in one or more of the following subjects: advanced statistical methods, population data science/computational demography, population aging, graduate online learning and teaching, interdisciplinary population research, knowledge mobilization or integrated knowledge transfer 2 approaches to intersectoral collaboration and evidence-based decision-making. Education/Experience

A Ph.D. degree in a field related to population research in the social or health sciences e.g. sociology, demography, economics, epidemiology, health services, gerontology, etc., will be considered a strong asset. Pro-active and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to responsibilities and to obtaining results. Organized, good judgment, pragmatic, with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written, is required. Demonstrated ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams), citation software, web maintenance applications, and bibliographic databases (e.g., PubMed). Demonstrated knowledge of research grants (e.g. SSHRC, CIHR, or NIH, etc.), including policies, guidelines, and budget preparation/monitoring. Relevant population research experience, working knowledge of qualitative data analysis software and statistical software, strong communication skills in French, and the ability to write for lay audiences are additional assets.

The Position

Candidates should have a completed PhD in a population research-related discipline (e.g. demography, sociology, economics, epidemiology) and demonstrated interest and expertise in one or more of the following subjects: advanced statistical methods, population data science/computational demography, population aging, graduate online learning and teaching, interdisciplinary population research, knowledge mobilization or integrated knowledge transfer approaches to intersectoral collaboration and evidence-based decision-making. The initial appointment will be for one year but may be renewed based on performance.

The position can commence as soon as the candidate is available (providing they have fulfilled all the requirements for the PhD in their degree granting institution), and no later than August 31, 2022. 听Competitive salary commensurate with experience: salary is negotiable within the range of major federal Canadian funding agencies postdoctoral fellowships (CA$40,000-60,000 per year, plus benefits; the position is unionized; see /gps/postdocs/fellows for details)

  • Coordinating the outputs and publications of other team members, partners and fellows from CAnD3 projects, including regular features in population research journals;听
  • Developing, implementing and managing module evaluations, learning analytics, surveys, and other data collection with trainees, team members, and partners;
  • Executing analyses of module evaluations, learning analytics, surveys, and other program-related data collection;
  • Collaborating and liaising closely with CAnD3 Director, staff, team members and partners.

Qualifications

Education: Candidates should have obtained a PhD diploma in a field related to population research in the social or health sciences e.g. sociology, demography, economics, epidemiology, health services by August 31, 2022.听听

Relevant population research experience:

  • Significant training and technical knowledge of quantitative research methodology and software (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, Python); and/or
  • Working knowledge of qualitative research methodology and data analysis software.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Training and technical knowledge of data science or computational social science would be a strong asset;
  • Pro-active and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to responsibilities and to obtaining results;
