Goal setting is an important predictor of wellbeing and success in graduate school. The IDP (Individual Development Plan) is a tool designed to help you articulate and plan your goals. Think of your IDP as a tailored roadmap that guides you from where you are now to where you want to be. The purpose of an IDP is not to "lock" you into a set of goals, but rather to help you approach your work and life with more intention, and to adapt your plan when new challenges and opportunities arise. 成人VR视频 Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies developed myPath specifically to help you create an IDP. In this 1 hour session, we will discuss what is involved in creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and how you can use the myPath tools and programs to create a meaningful IDP that will help you to stay focused on your priorities and track your progress.

Matt Adolphe, B.A., M.A.
Matt Adolphe teaches writing and communication courses at various post-secondary institutes, including the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, and SAIT. At SAIT, he teaches a variety of leadership and professional communication courses online. He holds a B.A. in Indigenous Studies and History form Laurentian University, and an M.A. in Communication Management from the University of South Australia. Beyond teaching, his professional life has been punctuated with experiences as a political organizer, volunteer, career coach, consultant, actor, radio DJ, studio musician, speech writer, and media presenter (the first English speaking TV news presenter in Macao). Moreover, he is the author of two books: "Canadian Workplace Culture: Mastering the Unspoken Rules" and "Would You Hire You?" Both books are aimed at helping people achieve success in their careers.

Career Pathways of PhDs Grads : The Stats and the Stories

What careers do PhD graduates pursue after graduation? How do they transition to a career in and outside academia? What advice do PhD alumni have for current graduate students? This session will present the results of the TRaCE 成人VR视频 project, which tracked over 4,500 PhD grads from 2008 to 2018 and also interviewed over 300 of them. Come find out the career outcomes of graduates from your faculty and hear the stories of PhD alumni who successfully transitioned to exciting jobs.

Bio:
Dr. Marie-Claude Felton is Academic Affairs Officer at 成人VR视频 Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, where she manages the TRaCE 成人VR视频 project which investigates the career outcomes of nearly 5,000 成人VR视频 PhD alumni. She also worked as project manager for the department of English and as Affiliate member of the History department. After finishing her PhD at the 脡cole des Hautes 脡tudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, a Banting postdoctoral fellowship at 成人VR视频 as well as a research fellowship at Oxford University. She鈥檚 the author of several works pertaining to the history of authorship and copyright in the 18thcentury.
