Addressing Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Women: ÌýA One-Fits-All Approach?
One in three women die of ischemic heart disease or stroke. Yet most women remain unaware of the risks they face:ÌýtheyÌýare under-diagnosed, under-treated and under-researched.
Overall Learning Objectives for the Activity:
To understandÌýthe differences and similarities of cardiovascular diseaseÌýrisk factorsÌýbetween women and menÌýacross the lifespan
Learning Objectives for Specific Sessions:
- Summarize the sex and gender differences in epidemiology and importance of cardiovascular diseaseÌýrisk factors
- Outline aÌýsex specific approach to hypertension managementÌý
- Identify the impact of diabetes on cardiovascular diseaseÌýrisk in women
- Explain preconception cardiovascular diseaseÌýrisk factor managementÌý
