The meeting brought together academic partners, community partners and experts in Indigenous Peoples' leadership, medicine, ethnobotany, nutrition and food assessment, nutritional anthropology, epidemiology and toxicology. These collaborators, from eight countries, shared experiences, worked towards unifying project goals and objectives and developed proposals for funding. The private and supportive environment of the Bellagio Study and Conference Centre fostered creativity, productivity and great camaraderie. The unparalleled diversity of experiences, cultures and professional backgrounds of the participants provided a rich exchange of ideas and a highly successful meeting.
