My role as the northern research and training coordinatorÌýinclude (but is not limited to) :
Travel to remote northern regions to conduct field research
Coordinate research logistic and training opportunities with northern partners
Prepare and communicate research reports
Assist in research protocol and license applications
Provide graduate students with basic support for data collection, statistical analysis, and redaction
Attend meetings and conferences to promote our research program

Sonia Périllat-Amédée
Sonia completed her master’s degree in Human Nutrition at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ in 2020 under the supervision ofÌýProfessor Treena Delormier. The objective of her thesis project was to explore community wellness perspectives in the Nehirowisiw Atikamekw community of Manawan. This project was part of the Community Mobilization Training (CMT) study, organized by the Kahnawà :ke Schools Diabetes Prevention Program (KSDPP). Concurrently, Sonia worked on the Tahathikonhsontóntie’ ERRSA-Qc funding application. Sonia continues to work with the CME, PPDEK and ERRSA-Qc teams as a research assistant forÌýProfessor Treena Delormier. Whether through her work or in her personal life, Sonia wishes to continue to encourage community mobilization for the promotion of healthy lifestyles, food sovereignty and holistic wellness.

Marisol Vidal-Batres
Marisol earned her master's degree in Human Nutrition from ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ in 2022. Her research project focused on assessing risk factors for interrupting exclusive breastfeeding, including maternal and infant symptoms. Currently, Marisol takes on the role of coordinating the organization of Professor Delormier's projects at CINE.

Aishat Abdu, Ph.D
Aishat is a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Human Nutrition, ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. Her research focuses on understanding the linkages between gender, nutrition, and health outcomes within rural communities of low and middle-income countries. She is currently supporting Professor Grace Marquis (School of Human Nutrition) and other collaborators at the School of Population and Global Health and the Department of Family Medicine on the evaluation of a World Vision Canada project focused on improving gender-equitable practices in nutrition, health, and sexual/reproductive health. Aishat has collaborated previously with NGOs to conduct gender-related research and develop a policy report. She has years of field research experience in rural settings of the African continent, developing and implementing surveys and qualitative approaches.
