Minor in Entrepreneurship at 成人VR视频 Desautels

The ) focuses on an entrepreneurial mindset to see opportunity in the world and provide training in an entrepreneurial method to bring opportunities for change to life. This program takes a democratized approach to entrepreneurship, with exposure to the diverse manifestations of entrepreneurship in the world including but not limited to new ventures, social enterprise, tech start-ups, cooperatives, corporate venturing, side hustles, and passion projects.

This minor is open to*:

  • Agricultural and Environmental Science students (except听Bachelor of Science - Food Science or Nutritional Sciences)
  • Arts students (excluding听Joint Honours Economics / Finance or Accounting)
  • B.Sc. Kinesiology听students at the Faculty of Education
  • B.A. (Education); Major in Education in Global Contexts students

NOT OPEN TO STUDENTS IN MUSIC, SCIENCE or ENGINEERING. Students must consult with their home faculty听about minors offered by those faculties.听听More details are available on the听Minors in Entrepreneurship at other faculties听飞别产蝉颈迟别.听

*Students that are currently pursing a Minor in Entrepreneurship offered by your home faculty can continue with the current minor and do not need to apply to the Management version. The course list remains the same. Advising for course registration will be handled by the BCom Office.


Admission Requirements

  • All students should consult with their faculty or departmental advisor before applying, to ensure that they are meeting their faculty rules and restrictions concerning the maximum number of credits taken outside of their home faculty and their eligibility to complete the Minor.
  • All applicants must submit a 250-word听(maximum) personal statement explaining their interest in entrepreneurship and why they want to pursue the Minor in Entrepreneurship.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 24 graded credits completed at 成人VR视频 before applying.
  • Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (this does not guarantee acceptance).
  • Completing management courses prior to admission will not have any influence on your application. Any management courses completed prior to being admitted may count towards the Minor.
  • May not be pursuing听or have completed a Minor in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Marketing or Operations Management (for Non-Management students).
  • Students pursuing a Joint Honours Economics Finance or Accounting cannot pursue this Minor.
  • Students entering U3 or their final year will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis as it may be difficult to finish the minor before graduation. We recommend that students have at least 4 terms at听成人VR视频 (not including terms on exchange/study away or summer courses) to complete the minor. The Desautels Faculty of Management enforces prerequisites and year restrictions on its courses and does not make exceptions to complete the Minor in a shorter time frame.

Deadline

  • Applications are due by June 1.听Decisions will be sent in late July - early responses are not given.
  • Students will be informed via their 成人VR视频 email address concerning their application.
  • Once admitted to the Minor, book an appointment with the BCom Office听to review your study plan with an advisor.

About the Minor

  • The Minor is composed of 18 credits.听We do not accept double counting of courses.
  • Six(6) credits maximum that can be transferred from any institution听other than 成人VR视频听(exchange, study away, etc..). Please consult with the BCom Student Affairs office.听
  • Courses counting towards the Minor cannot be taken under the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option. Courses for the Minor听must be passed with grades of C or better.
  • Courses completed听through the School of Continuing Studies will not be allowed to听count for the听minor.

Students currently registered in a Minor

  • Students in听Agricultural and Environmental Science, Arts or听Kinesiology and Physical Education that are currently pursing a Minor in Entrepreneurship offered by their home faculty can continue with the current minor and do not need to apply to the Management version. The course list remains the same.

Notes:听

  • INTG 215听Entrepreneurship Essentials for Non-Management Students cannot be taken outside 成人VR视频 (i.e. on exchange).
  • INTG 215 must be taken before听MGPO 362 Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, which must be taken before听MGPO 364 Entrepreneurship in Practice. These courses cannot be taken concurrently. No exceptions!
  • As part of the complementary credits, you must complete 3 credits from our Core curriculum course list (MGCR group). Please contact the听BCom office听to receive a registration permit (space permitting).
