Welcome to the PhD program at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Desautels Faculty of Management. Our doctoral program was established in 1976, and since then it has developed into one of the leading places in Canada in generating well-known business researchers and educators.
Every year, approximately 15 students from around 300 applicants are admitted to our PhD program across various study disciplines and are offered five years of full funding, which is based on the combination of research and teaching assistantships. Similar to US doctoral programs, students in our program are expected to take an advanced set of courses during their first two years and devote their remaining years to the dissertation research. Our program has a strong collaboration culture: students work closely with both professors and their peers to produce scholarly contributions that are innovative and generative. For many, this joint experience in producing cutting-edge research continues for many years beyond their graduation from the doctoral program.
One of the unique features of our PhD program is the participation in a joint doctoral program that brings together the four Montreal universities (HEC-Montreal, Concordia, UQAM, and ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ). This allows our PhD students to access doctoral offerings from other universities, and they are expected to include professors from other universities on their thesis committees.
We are proud of our record of placing students in many leading research-intensive universities and think-tank organizations around the world. If you are a bright, hardworking, independent, and innovative individual looking for a solid doctoral program and would like to spend several years of your life in Montreal – one of the most livable cities in North America that encompasses both American and European cultures, – then I urge you to apply to the PhD program in Management at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ.
