Training Event | Demystifying Data Science

Join us for a 2-hour introductory training on how data science powers modern genomics and RNA research within D2R. After a brief overview of what 鈥渄ata science鈥 really means in our context, four short talks will highlight its key pillars: machine learning (Hamed Najafabadi), biostatistics聽(Jos茅e Dupuis), ethics and governance of data use聽(Ma鈥檔 H. Zawati), and bioinformatics and computational pipelines聽(Guillaume Bourque). The session will conclude with an interactive panel discussion where trainees can ask questions and explore practical challenges in their own projects. This event is designed for students and fellows from all backgrounds who want a concise, big-picture view of the data science toolkit behind D2R.

Date & Time: Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm聽followed by networking and refreshments until 12:30pm (for in-person attendees only)

    Please note that, for those attending in-person, there will be a networking session with聽refreshments following the training in the Atrium of the GCI on the 5th floor. Space is limited!
