Applications submitted past the deadlines stipulated below will NOT be reviewed by the ECP Fellowships Committee. Make appropriate arrangements with Referees to ensure timely submission of all letters of reference. Ensure you adhere to timelines for ordering all required original transcripts.

Incomplete applications will be considered null and void and will NOT be reviewed by the ECP Fellowships Committee.

Tomlinson Doctoral Fellowships

Established in 2000 through a very generous gift from Dr. Richard H. Tomlinson, these fellowships are awarded annually by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to recruit outstanding students into Doctoral degree programs.ÌýDetailed information on this award (eligibility and evaluation criteria) can be found .

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

  • Be incoming students accepted into a doctoral degree at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ with a start date of Fall 2023. (Students currently enrolled at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, or whose latest degree was completed or is in progress at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, are ineligible);
  • Have a GPA of 3.7/4.0 (3.50 for Law) in each of the last two years of full-time study at the undergraduate and post-graduate level.
VALUE

Up to $35,000 per year, renewable twice.ÌýThe Department is only permitted to forward one nominee to Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) for a University wide competition.ÌýHowever, a unit may submit an additional nomination for a self-declared indigenous applicant that meets the eligibility criteria. The department will be holding a Departmental competition to determine the Department's nominee(s).

Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel (GREAT) Awards

The Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology will be holding two competitions forÌý2024-2025 Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel (GREAT) Awards for conference presentations and research dissemination between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2024.ÌýÌý

The first competition, for conferences held between May 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024, is now open, with a deadline of November 8, 2024.Ìý

A second competition, for conferences held between November 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024Ìýwill be held in the new year, with a deadline of February 18, 2024.Ìý

Award values and recipients are to be determined by the ECP Fellowships Committee after each competition.

Eligibility:

All ECP Research Master’s or Doctoral students in good standing, registered full-time, and not in time limitation. Student's must meet eligibility criteria when applying, receiving the award and at the time of the conference/event.

  • Master's Research students must be registered in Year 1 or 2, as indicated on Minerva.
  • Doctoral students must be registered in Years 1 through 6, as indicated on Minerva

Applications Requirements:

Complete the Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel Award Application form, attaching proof of acceptance/registration, an abstract of the paper to be presented (1 page maximum), and any associated receipts, as outlined on the form.

Application Deadlines:

1. First competition: November 8, 2024Ìý(for conferences/events between May 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024)

2. Second competition: February 18, 2024Ìý(for conferences attended between November 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024).

Judy Fish Graduate Award in Inclusive Education

Established in 2004 by Avrum and Dora Morrow in honour of Judy Fish, B.A. 1965, M.Ed. 1982.ÌýAwarded by the Faculty of Education to a student enrolled in a Master's degree in Educational Psychology whose area of study/research is in Inclusive Education. The Graduate Award is based on academic merit, with consideration given to the student's involvement in the community and in extracurricular activities.

  • Students Pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Psychology whose area of study/research is in Inclusive Education;Ìý
  • Full-time registered ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students only; must be registered as full-time ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ student at the time of application, and award payment.

Dr. John A. Bryant Memorial Award

Established in 1988 by the Butters Foundation in memory of Dr. John A. Bryant, B.Sc. 1949, M.D. 1951.ÌýAwarded annually by the Faculty of Education upon recommendation of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology to graduate students pursuing studies in the inclusion of students with developmental disabilities into school and society.

Eligibility
  • Student pursuingÌýMaster's degree in Educational Psychology with studies focused onÌýthe inclusion of students with developmental disabilities into school and society.
  • Full-time registered ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students only; must be registered as full-time ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ student at the time of application, and award payment.

Graduate Mobility Awards

The 2023/2024 Graduate Mobility Awards are now available for application on a rolling basis through March 25, 2024 at 9 a.m.

The Graduate Mobility Award encourages graduate students to study and conduct research abroad as part of their ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ degree program by defraying part of the cost of the international experience. The award, funded by the Government of Quebec, is available to all full-time thesis students enrolled in a graduate degree program at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ who have been approved by their academic unit and Faculty to take part in a mobility opportunity. The mobility award is meant to contribute towards the completion of the student’s thesis. A limited number of Awards are available each year on a competitive basis.

Value

Up to 1,500 per month, up to 8 months. Award value depends on where the mobility activity takes place, its duration and the availability of funding at the time of application. Note that students' activities abroad funded by this Mobility program cannot exceed 8 months per degree. The 8 months can be used in one activity or by combining several travel activities.

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ
  • Must be registered as a full-time thesis student at the time of the activity
  • Must have completed one fullÌýterm at the time of application
  • Must have completed a Predeparture orientation session within one year of departure date
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must have held an advisory/supervisory committee meeting within 10 months prior to start date of activity
  • Must be approved by his/her academic unit and Faculty to take part in a mobility opportunity
  • Must be participating in one or more of the following mobility activities, depending on the Faculty/academic unit:
    • Archival Research
    • Bilateral exchange/research partnership
    • Fieldwork
    • Research stay at a lab abroad
    • Workshop/training
  • The activity must not have started at the time of application
  • The activity must take place outside the province of Quebec
  • Students’ activities abroad funded by this Mobility program cannot exceed 8 months per degree
  • Travel must start during the Academic Year 2023-24
  • Conference travel is NOT eligible

Students must submit proof of having completed the . If the certificate of completion is not available at the time of submission, one must be submitted before payment can be released.

Before applying, ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students on US Direct loans intending to pursue any portion of their program in the US or a foreign country should refer to the Scholarships and Student Aid website to check eligibility and impact this funding will have on their US Direct loan(s).

Kindly be reminded that each student may only receive one award per academic year. Funding for Mobility cannot exceed 8 months per degreeÌý(the 8 months can be used in one single trip or accumulated over several trips).Ìý

  3. Obtain approval signature from your supervisor.

    Note:ÌýAll applications will be forwarded to the ECP Fellowships Committee for evaluation and GPD signature. ECP Support Staff will obtain the GPD's signature for approved applications and then forward the application to the Faculty of Education for approval. You will be advised should your application be approved at the Faculty level.

  3. Screenshot of your Travel Registry (if not yet available, one must be submitted before payment can be released)
  4. Certificate of completion of your if you are traveling outside of Canada (if not yet available, one must be submitted before payment can be released)

Important Information:

  • Once your application is accepted, you will need to confirm you have followed current guidelines and submit a Travel Registry to get your final approval and award payment.
  • Graduate Mobility Award recipients are required to complete a short survey and provide proof of travel (i.e. boarding pass, not airfare tickets) within one month of their return. Students who fail to complete this step will see their award withdrawn.
  • Note that the award is paid directly to the student and cannot be paid to third parties (e.g. to pay directly for goods and services).
  • All changes in travel plans must be reported to the academic unit and GPS immediately. Failure to report changes may result in the withdrawal of the award.

Ann Gross Fellowship in Education

Established by Ann Gross, MLS 1977. Awarded by the Faculty of Education on the basis of academic merit to outstanding graduate students pursuing research in the field of developmental psychology to further advance scholarship and services that will enrich the lives of adults with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder and/or Asperger syndrome.

Eligibility: Students must hold high academic recordsÌýand be pursing research in the field of developmental psychology to further advance scholarship and services that will enrich the lives of adults with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder and/or Asperger syndrome.ÌýPlease note that you must be registered for the Fall 2021/Winter 2022Ìýsemesters to be eligible for this award.

Amount varies:ÌýFor the 2021-2022Ìýcompetition, the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology student will receive an award in the value of $3,500.

Wolfe Fellowship in Scientific and Technological Literacy

Established in 2010 for outstanding graduate students in any Faculty who are conducting research in the area of scientific and technological literacy. Awarded on the basis of high academic standing, community involvement and athletic activities

Eligibility: Students conducting research in the area of scientific and technological literacy with high academic standing, community involvement and athletic activities.ÌýPlease note that you must be registered for the Fall 2021/Winter 2022Ìýsemesters to be eligible for this award.

Amount varies:ÌýFor the 2021-2022Ìýcompetition, the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology student will receive an award in the value of $6,000.

There are unique funding opportunities available to current graduate students in research programs (PhD, MA Thesis or MA/M.Ed. Non-Thesis Project Concentrations only) throughout the Faculty of Education for the 2024-2025Ìýacademic year.

The ECP Fellowships Committee will select ECP finalists who will be nominated by the unit for the Faculty-wide competition. Units will transmit to the Office of the Associate Dean, Academic Programs, applicant dossiers, which will then be evaluated and ranked by academic members of the Committee on Graduate Studies (CGS) at the Faculty level. The Associate Dean, Academic Programs, will then select the recipients based upon recommendations received from the Committee on Graduate Studies (CGS).

Your deadline for submitting an application for any of the above-mentioned faculty awards is March 1, 2024 at 12:00p.m. (noon).
