Mentors in Memoriam: Mr. Joseph A. Hackett

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely passing of Mr. Joseph A. Hackett. Joe had a long career as a school teacher and, since retirement, had been working as a student teaching Field Supervisor for our Faculty for more than 15 years. He was also previously a Course Lecturer with the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE). Joe leaves behind a significant and impressive legacy of mentorship, having supported hundreds of students and future teachers.

Dean's Statement for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On this day of Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the tragedies that occurred at the residential schools and we are reminded that every child matters. As the Dean of the Faculty of Education, I am averse to calling those institutions 鈥渟chools鈥. Schools are a place to advance learning, to open one鈥檚 mind to new ideas and diverse opinions; to mentor and collaborate with each child so they become the best they can be throughout their lives.
