Description
Have you ever wondered how to design impactful figures to effectively communicate data? Do you struggle with deciding where to begin: by drafting your main text or by composing your figures? In this workshop, we will discuss how to present research using figures; how to compose clear illustrations for lay and scientific audiences; and how to determine what written information to include within images themselves, within their respective captions, and within the main text.
Learning Objectives

鈥� How to select and caption images
鈥� How to compose effective and aesthetically pleasing figures
Instructions
If you have any figures in progress for your thesis, a manuscript or a proposal, please bring them to the session.
Facilitator
Dr. Alexandre Demers-Potvin is a paleontologist who holds a Ph.D. from 成人VR视频 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher in 成人VR视频鈥檚 Department of Bioengineering. He has mastered a wide range of 2D and 3D scientific imaging techniques to illustrate his field- and museum-based research. Dr. Demers-Potvin has received research support from the NSERC, FRQNT, the National Geographic Society, Polar Knowledge Canada, the Dinosaur Research Institute, and the Quebec Center for Biodiversity Science.
