Vice-Dean Education to launch two new teaching innovation awards

In recognition of World Teachers鈥 Day and as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences ongoing Proud to Teach campaign, the Vice-Dean Education鈥檚 office will launch two new teaching awards this fall.

The intent of these new awards is to highlight teaching innovations being used to meet the needs of students. This has become particularly important in light of the remarkable way that teaching has been reshaped in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first award will be targeted to faculty members, and the second to learners who have established a role as teachers. Those who have developed and implemented compelling educational innovations in health sciences education will be eligible. The goal of this award is to recognize individuals who have explored and employed new approaches to teaching that are learning and student-focused.

鈥淲e have so many phenomenal teachers across this Faculty that truly merit recognition,鈥 said Dr. Annette Majnemer, Vice-Dean, Education. 鈥淭hese awards are an opportunity to recognize the ingenuity of our educators at every level who are making a huge difference in the educational experience of our learners.鈥

Details of both new awards will be announced in the coming weeks. The goal is to announce the first set of award winners during the first week of February, as part of Teacher Appreciation Week in Qu茅bec.

These awards are part of the Faculty鈥檚 Education Strategic Plan, which places a strong emphasis on raising the value and recognition of teaching across the Faculty.
