Roderick I L Guthrie
Macdonald Professor of Metallurgy
PhD Diploma of Imperial College
BSc Hons(Eng) Royal School of Mines
Professor R. Guthrie is the Director of the 成人VR视频 Metals Processing Centre, where he carries out fundamental and applied research in Process Engineering Metallurgy. He expertise includes the development and characterization of new, as well as existing, metallurgical processes. His methods include the physical and mathematical modeling of these processing operations, requiring both high and low temperature Physical Modelling, together with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling. His current research activities include 1) the Horizontal Single Belt Casting (HSBC) of thin strips of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, and of crystalline and bulk amorphous metals. 2) continuous casting and steelmaking operations, including ladle-tundish-mould procedures. 3) the cleanliness of molten metals, aluminum/magnesium cast house operations, using LiMCA and APS III sensors. 4) the development of microbubble technologies for liquid metals. They all require the application and use thermodynamics and transport phenomena in the Analysis and Design of these industrial processes.
