Details on Immunization Standards and Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification

Immunization

For students admitted to both the Montreal and Outaouais campuses, a healthcare professional selected by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will review your immunization records to ensure you meet the immunization requirement. You are required to submit your documents by May 1 (students admitted or promoted to the program after May 1 must submit proof within 2 weeks of receiving their offer, but no later than the first business day before Orientation),听and your immunization status must be verified 鈥complete鈥 by the start of Orientation. You are strongly encouraged to submit your documents as soon as possible, in case there are additional immunizations or tests that you require; some vaccination series must be given over a certain time period.

Complete immunization is required to participate in clinical activities this fall. You are responsible for obtaining any missing tests or immunizations as soon as feasible. Rarely, the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) can grant an extension for certain in-progress immunization series. If UGME does not receive your 鈥淐omplete鈥 email by the new expected completion date, they will follow up with you to determine whether this is a professionalism concern or if you are making all possible efforts to complete your requirements.

STEP 1:REVIEW FORM

Review the Immunization form, and have it completed and signed by your own healthcare provider based on your immunization records. If needed your provider can order any missing immunizations or tests for you at the same time. 听Download the form:

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS

Note this upload website听must be accessed with your 成人VR视频 username (email address). Only students who have accepted their offer of admission are听assigned a 成人VR视频 email address and can access the form. Note all files must be combined into a single, legible .pdf

  • You will be required to grant your consent for how your information can be shared with FMHS staff and clinical partners to confirm that you meet the requirements for admission and clinical placements.

STEP 3: RECEIVE YOUR RESULTS

The FMHS healthcare professional will review your documents in the order they are received; initial reviews take place from April-July. There are two possible outcomes.

  1. Your immunization is complete. You will receive an email confirmation to keep for yourself; a copy will be sent to the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Office for your student record.
  2. Your immunization is not complete, or the healthcare professional has a question. You will receive an email explaining what you must do.听

STEP 4: IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL IMMUNIZATIONS

Special note for Tuberculosis testing
If you are required to obtain a TST, please make an appointment with your healthcare professional or refer to the resource list.

If your TST results are positive or require you to obtain a chest x-ray and medical report from a respirologist, the nurse or doctor that read the TST must send the report of the PPD reading (including size and date) and request for referral to a respirologist.听Please submit proof of your appointment date with your form to Medicine 成人VR视频 if you do not have the medical report yet.

  • In the Montreal area, the MUHC Tuberculosis clinic accepts these referrals. The nurse or doctor can fax the consult request to 514-934-4404 or by email to rendezvousmuhc [at] muhc.mcgill.ca
  • In the Outaouais area, the nurse or doctor can fax the consult request to the CISSS de l'Outaouais at 819-966-6081.听 The pneumologie service will contact you to give you an appointment with a resipirologist.
