Description
The specimen is so small that it is difficult to identify specific features, other than an 8 mm long ventricle (arrow) continuous with the aorta above.
Comment
The family Chimaeridae contains about 50 species of deep-water cartilaginous fish related to sharks. The species whose heart is displayed is now classified in the genus Hydrolagus.
