Treatment Techniques

In Medical Physics the research branch is closely related to clinical applications. That might be the reason why Imaging and treatment techniques have evolved relatively fast in the last twenty years. Following this trend the Medical Physics Clinical Research Group at 成人VR视频 is engaged in the search for improvements and development of treatment techniques as well as optimization of the dynamics of clinical work. With this in mind the Clinical Research Group is divided into two sub-groups, Treatment Techniques sub-group and Clinical Data[base] sub-group. The following describes the two sub-groups and which are the faculty involved with them.

Under the supervision of Dr. Jan Seuntjens and Dr. Shirin Enger, the Treatment Techniques Research sub-group is involved with the development of novel radiation therapy treatment strategies. The current research focuses include:

  • trajectory-based treatment delivery using the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, involving simultaneous motion of the gantry, couch, and collimator combined with volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) optimization;
  • design and fabrication of rotating shield brachytherapy sources, along with creation of tools to calculate and optimize dose distributions from shielded brachytherapy sources in patients.
