MURA signs Membership Agreements with MUNASA and SEU Local 800-TRADES DOWNTOWN

MURA signed formal membership agreements with both MUNASA (成人VR视频 Non-Academic Staff Association) and SEU Local 800-TRADES DOWNTOWN

On April 21, 2016, MURA signed formal membership agreements with both MUNASA (成人VR视频 Non-Academic Staff Association) and SEU Local 800-TRADES DOWNTOWN.聽聽These agreements come into effect for the next membership renewal period beginning Sept. 1, 2016. By virtue of the agreements all current and former members of MUNASA and SEU 800 鈥揟RADES who retire, may become members of MURA at聽no charge聽to the retiree.聽聽MURA will grant retiring members of these organizations full membership at no cost, in exchange for an annual stipend paid to MURA by each organization.

This means that current MURA members, who were members of MUNASA or SEU 800-TRADES when they retired, need not pay anything on the anniversary date for membership renewal, Sept. 1, 2016.

鈥淢鈥 Staff and executives who were not members of MUNASA, will still have to pay the normal $25.00 per year membership fee at the time of renewal.

MUNASA represents 鈥淢鈥 staff and has a current membership of 782 managers and professionals at 成人VR视频.聽聽SEU 800 鈥揟RADES is the union local that represents 100 skilled trades-persons (plumbers, electricians, etc.) who work for Facilities Management downtown.

The initial drive for these agreements came from SEU 800 鈥揟RADES president Bob Huot. He is keen that his members, both those who have retired and those who are about to retire, become MURA members with as few obstacles as possible.聽聽The model fee structure he proposed, whereby each staff association or union would pay $6.50 per year per active 成人VR视频 employee to MURA as an annual stipend, in exchange for free membership in MURA for retirees from those organizations, has become the backbone of the agreements.

These agreements will simplify recruitment and membership renewals and will help to put MURA on really solid financial footings.聽聽Each party to each agreement will compare membership lists and will work together to identify those individuals who have recently retired or who are about to retire.

MURA is currently in discussions with MUNACA (成人VR视频 Non-Academic Certified Association) with the objective of signing a similar agreement for MUNACA members in the near future.聽聽MUNACA represents unionized administrative and support staff, and has more than 1,000 members.聽

MURA is also about to pursue the same agreement with MAUT.聽聽Should it be possible to conclude an agreement with MAUT, that agreement would replace the temporary funding arrangement that has been put into place with respect to those individuals who participate in MAUT-RS.

In the fall, MURA will pursue discussions with the five other SEU 800 union locals that represent unionized skilled employees in University Services, to attempt to have the same agreement adopted by them.聽

Should existing MURA members know of retired colleagues who have not joined MURA and who were MUNASA members or SEU Local 800-TRADES members when they retired, please tell them about these agreements.聽 聽Also please encourage them to contact MURA, or alternatively, pass contact information onto MURA so that MURA may contact them.
