MAUT and MURA are pleased to announce that they have reached a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will allow any retiree who has been a member of MAUT in good standing for at least one dues-paying-year to become a member of MURA without paying the normal membership fee.聽聽Further, the spouse or partner of a MURA Regular Member will be eligible to join MURA as an Associate Member without paying a membership fee.聽
Under the agreement, MAUT will continue to be responsible for representing the interests that are specific to retired academics and librarians to the University Administration, while MURA will be a voice for retirees on all other issues.聽聽Each year the Executives of MURA and MAUT will meet prior to May 1st, the start of the fiscal year for the accord, to discuss any issues of concern.聽聽The agreement includes a termination protocol that be may be triggered by either party if it no longer serves its purpose.聽
The MOA will generate financial support for MAUT Retiree鈥檚 Section (MAUT-RS) and for MURA.聽聽Academic and librarian retirees will be members of MAUT-RS and MURA for a $5 nominal fee to be confirmed聽聽shortly by MAUT Council.聽
MURA and MAUT look forward to a productive partnership for the benefit of all our members.聽聽It is hoped that this agreement, along with those signed previously by MURA with MUNACA, MUNASA and SEU Trades (Downtown) will help establish a close relationship between all active and retired employees.聽聽聽
