The Neurocognition of Language Laboratory is an electrophysiology laboratory designed to conduct high quality electroencephalography experiments in cognitive neuroscience and neurolinguistics. It particularly focuses on event-related brain potentials (ERPs) associated with language processing and speech perception (click here for more information about ongoing research projects in the lab).

The EEG lab

To measure the brain activity underlying cognitive processes, most of our experiments record the participants' electro-encephalogram (EEG) while they read or listen to sentences or other stimuli. The lab is equipped with a 64-channel Synamps2 DC amplifier system (). EEG signals are recorded from cap-mounted electrodes () in an electromagnetically shielded and sound attenuated booth ().

Several hardware and software systems can be used for auditory and visual stimulus presentation. EEG/ERP data analysis and source reconstruction are carried out with as well as Neuroscan software packages. These include the Linux based EEProbe software and Windows based ASA, Scan, and Curry softwares.
