Lise Thibault was sworn in as the 27th Lieutenant Governor of Qu茅bec in January 1997, the first woman to ever hold the office. Born in Saint-Roch-de-l聮Achigan on April 2, 1939, she studied at the teachers聮 college, 脡cole normale de Saint-J茅r么me. Lise Thibault taught for the adult education department of the Milles-脦les and Des 脡cores school boards before becoming a television host for social and family oriented programs on the T茅l茅-M茅tropole and Radio-Canada (television) networks.

Lise Thibault first became involved in public affairs in Qu茅bec in 1977 as a member of the commission established by the Qu茅bec Department of Education to oversee the language of instruction, and as the Provincial President of Canada Day Celebrations. Later she became Vice-President for Relations with Beneficiaries at the Qu茅bec Occupational Health and Safety Commission and President and Director General of the Qu茅bec Bureau for the Handicapped. During the same period, Lise Thibault sat on various boards of directors, including those of the Quebec Rental Board and the Canadian Red Cross.

Lise Thibault has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Law by Concordia University and the Edouard-Montpetit Medal from Universit茅 de Montr茅al聮s Edouard Montpetit Foundation.

Lise and Ren茅 Thibault have two children and six grandchildren.

The Muriel V. Roscoe Lecture Series

Named after Dr. Muriel V. Roscoe - a professor of Botany at 成人VR视频 and Warden of Royal Victoria College (1940-1962) - the Roscoe lecture is presented this year by the 成人VR视频 Women聮s Alumnae Association, the 成人VR视频 Centre for Research and Teaching on Women and the Royal Victoria Centennial Committee.

At the end of her talk, the Honourable Lise Thibault will give an honorary certificate to Ms. Florence Tracy, Warden of Royal Victoria College and Director of Residences and Student Housing, to mark the RVC聮s 100th anniversary at the end of its year long celebration.
