First Peoples’ House staff are dedicated to supporting all First Nations, Inuit and Métis students at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. Students can drop in or make an appointment with the First Peoples’ House Coordinator. First Peoples’ House staff are not trained counsellors but will listen respectfully and without judgment and will follow up with students as they receive appropriate support.

The GuardMe program, is a freeÌýconfidential and secure online wellness counselling service that specializes in student mental health support. Students have access to:

  • 24/7 real-time counselling via chat and telephone
  • Scheduled appointments with the same counsellor via telephone, video, or in-person
  • Get matched with a counsellor based on gender, language, culture, identity, lived experience, and more
  • Peer-to-peer online global community

Volunteer chaplains from a wide variety of faith traditions offer Informal and confidential support for survivors by appointment. MORSL staff and chaplains are not trained counsellors, but they can listen confidentially and compassionately, and can refer students to appropriate on-campus services. Chaplains are especially helpful for students who identify within a particular faith tradition or who wish to take a spiritual approach to establishing recovery and well-being. The Office of the Ombudsperson for Students offers independent, confidential, informal, and impartial dispute resolution services to all ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students. The Ombudsperson is an advocate for a fair process and not an advocate for the individual or for the administration.

The Ombudsperson can provide information on University regulations, policies and procedures; identify and evaluate options; refer students to appropriate persons in order to resolve problems; and act as a facilitator between students and other members of the University community.

The mission of the Office of the Dean of Students is to enhance, improve and promote the academic and personal success of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students. The Office upholds student rights and responsibilities, including the Code of Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures and the Charter of Students’ Rights.

The Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, or a Student Affairs Case Manager can advise on next steps for potential violations of a ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ policy or a violation of rights in the Charter of Students’ Rights; provide direct referrals to other campus offices (e.g., Financial Aid, Academic Advising, International Student Services, etc.); and facilitate solutions for academic or non-academic issues.

³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Security is responsible for investigating all serious crimes on campus and liaises with police forces conducting investigations that involve ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Security service can also facilitate a disclosure and connect you with the appropriate resources on and off campus to file a report. The Student Wellness Hub isÌýa renovated space, with increased staff, clinicians and medical professionals, for any and all health and wellness needs that you may have. It is now openÌýand is located on the third, fourth and fifthÌýfloors of the Brown Building.

It has consolidated and expanded Health Services, Counselling and Psychiatric Services, so you won’t have to restart if or whenÌýyouÌýgo between units. You also won't have to guess which service is right for you. When making an appointment with a counsellor, you can request your counsellor to be: French-speaking, Indigenous, a particular gender, or to specialize in (i.e., have knowledge of and a background in) LGBTQ+ experiences

Supports learners from ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education Programs, Ingram School of Nursing, School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, and School of Communication Sciences and Disorders throughout their training by creating, promoting and sustaining a culture of wellness and resilience within the learning environment. Provides Health Professional Learners with counselling services, support groups and workshops to facilitate the development of skills and strategies for learners as they navigate through a critical and demanding point in their lives.

A student-run organization committed to supporting survivors of sexual assault and their allies through direct support, advocacy, and outreach. Free services include: a confidential, non-directional phone line (DIAL), drop-in hours, group support, assistance with reporting at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, and community outreach.

Student Advocacy, a branch of the Legal Information Clinic at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, provides free, bilingual and confidential advice and representation to ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students involved in disputes within the University context. For students filing or responding to reports through the OMR, Student Advocacy can offer support and accompaniment during the investigation process.

PGSS Committee for Member Support

A volunteer SSMU service that provides free night-time accompaniment for those who feel uncomfortable, or who are unable to walk home alone. The service is available in the Fall and Winter semesters (except for ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Calendar Holidays) from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
