Professor Susan Mollan
Professor Susan Mollan has an established international reputation in Neuro-ophthalmology.听 She is a Consultant Neuro-Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals Birmingham and a Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham, England. She is a board member at the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and an international senior examiner for the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists. 听
She is a respected researcher and the director of Ophthalmology research at her institution. She is the chief data officer at INSIGHT. INSIGHT is a Health Data Research UK bioresource for eye health (28 million images and linked clinical data).听 She actively works to provide pragmatic guidance for clinicians through national and international guidelines and publications both in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and Giant Cell Arteritis. She has been instrumental in key randomized control trials conducted in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension.

Dr. Fiona Costello

Dr. Fiona Costello is a Professor, affiliated with the Departments of Clinical Neurosciences and Surgery (Ophthalmology), University of Calgary, and a Clinician Scientist with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI). She completed her medical school (1995) and Neurology residency training (2000) at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and then embarked on a clinical fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa (2000 鈥 2002). Her fellowship training was supported by an E.A. Baker Scholarship she received from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. From 2002 to 2007 she worked as an Assistant Professor in Medicine (Neurology) and Ophthalmology, at the University of Ottawa. Since 2007, she has run a clinical practice in Calgary as a neuro-ophthalmologist, serving the needs of patients with disorders involving the visual pathways and the central nervous system.听
Dr. Costello鈥檚 area of research focuses on using the eye as a model for brain disorders including multiple sclerosis and tumors. In 2013, Dr. Costello was named Chair to the Roy and Joan Allen Investigatorship for Vision Research and is working to establish a translational vision research program at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. She served as Director, Office of Surgical Research with听the Department of Surgery at the University of Calgary from 2013 to 2017. In 2023, she was appointed Associate Dean of Research (Chairs and Professorships), at the Cumming School of Medicine. Dr. Costello is currently an editorial board member with several academic journals including the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, the Journal of Neurology, the Multiple Sclerosis Journal, and Neurology. She has worked in several leadership roles with the Canadian Neurological Society, the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the International Women in Multiple Sclerosis Network, and the Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis.听

Dr. Julie Falardeau
Dr. Falardeau received her Medical Degree from University of Montreal and completed her Ophthalmology Residency at the same institution. She subsequently did a fellowship in Neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. She returned to the University of Montreal for 2 years as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and then moved to Portland, Oregon in 2005. She is the Thelma and Gilbert Schnitzer Professor of Ophthalmology and Neurology,and is the head of the Neuro-ophthalmology department at the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health and Science University.
Dr. Falardeau was awarded by the American Board of Ophthalmology for her outstanding contributions to the Oral Board Examination, and is currently serving on the ABO Board of Directors. She is a board member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and is actively involved in NANOS pipeline efforts. In April 2024, shecompleted her 2-year term as the Immediate Past President of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology, after serving the organization for 15 years.She was recently recognized by the Gender Equity in Academic Medicine Committee at Oregon Health and Science University as the recipient of the Outstanding Frontline Hero or Hidden Hero Award.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Falardeau has been actively involved in educational activities at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is the Neuro-Ophthalmology Subcommittee Chair for the AAO Annual Meeting Program Committee, and is a member of the AAO Subspeciality Day Advisory Committee.
She was section editor for various NANOS learning resources including the Illustrated Curriculum, Neuro-Ophthalmology Examination Techniques, and Essential Neuro-Ophthalmology Examination Techniques for Non-Neuro-Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Falardeau is dedicated to teaching and has received several Teaching Awards over the years.
