General Overview

The program officially consists of a 2 year residency education program. However, requirements for the first year (13 four-week periods) can been c completed during the last three years of the residents diagnostic radiology training (PGY3-5) and we expect the residents who are applying to our program to have successfully accomplished this. This will leave them to complete their last year in our program as a PGY6 year dedicated only to Interventional Radiology. Rotation selections respect the . At the end of the PGY6 year, the residents will have completed all the requirements of the IR residency and will be ready to apply for the Royal College examination.

Our program offers exposure to all areas of vascular and non-vascular diagnostic and interventional image-guided procedures. It also provides an integrated experience of clinical care, research, and teaching

Oncology, hepatobiliary, and transplant procedures are mostly performed at the Royal Victoria Hospital-Glen site, while the Montreal General Hospital is a Level I Trauma Centre. The JGH has a more generalized practice but still with some high end procedures. The MCH is a children dedicated hospital. All hospitals are dialysis centers. There are 8 IR suites in total, 3 at the RVH, 2 at the MGH, 2 at the JGH, and 1 at the MCH, each with state-of-the-art equipment. Trainees rotate at all sites.

Objectives/Guidelines

路 Obtain the clinical and practical knowledge for an appropriate case management and follow up

路 Obtain the skill to perform vascular and non-vascular procedures independently

路 Get involved on multidisciplinary teams for the management of patients

路 Develop the ability to prioritize cases and protect/advocate for patients

路 Get involved in research and other aspects of the medical practice that aims to advance the discipline of IR
