Inter-Faculty Transfers

The Occupational Therapy (OT) or the ÌýPhysical Therapy (PT) Program at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ consists of a 3-year 90-credit undergraduate degree, BSc(Rehabilitation Science)[major in OT] or aÌý BSc(Rehabilitation Science)[major in PT]. The Programs continue with a MSc(Applied) in the same discipline leading to professional license to practice in Canada. ÌýStudents who graduate from the BSc (Rehabilitation Science)Ìý degree with the required cGPA of 3.0 or better will be consideredÌýfor admittance into the same discipline of the MSc(A) program which starts in the summer following undergraduate graduation.

You can proceed with your Inter-Faculty Transfer application if you have met all the following conditions:

Submitting Test Scores or Documents for Testing Exemptions

Applicants will be able to submit official test scores or proof of exemption from the French language requirement viaÌýemail to undergrad.spot [at] mcgill.ca.

For applicants who believe they qualify for one of the exemptions, please upload any appropriate documentation proving that exemption. As there are a wide variety of documents that could potentially be used, use your best judgement in selecting what to upload. If, during our review process, we are unable to verify your eligibility for an exemption based on the documentation you have provided, we may ask you to upload additional or different documentation. If you believe you qualify for an exemption but are unable to obtain documentation to upload, please upload a signed affidavit outlining the exemption and attesting to the fact you meet the minimum required level of French proficiency.

NB: Please make sure that you register for the following year’s courses in your current ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ program. If you are accepted into the B.Sc. (RehabilitationÌýScience)Ìýprogram you will be able to undertake add/drop procedures and have space available for you in the required courses.

NB: If you are accepted, you will enter the undergraduateÌý BSc (Rehabilitation Science) as a U1 student.Ìý Transfer credits willÌýbe reviewed post admissions, upon the request of the student, no later than during the first semester. A maximum ofÌý30 transfer credits are permitted.Ìý Since the curriculum is sequential, the order of the courses is set and only offered in that year of the program (i.e. you must complete all courses inÌý U1 to proceed to U2,Ìý etc.)Ìý Students are not permitted to mix courses from different years within the same year.Ìý The time required to complete the BSc (Rehabilitation Science) degree is 3 years for all students.

Note: Intra-faculty transfers (between Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy) are not available to students in the undergraduate program. Students who wish to change programs can apply to the Graduate Qualifying year of their desired program of study, during their final year of undergraduate studies.

Complete the CASPer testing for Undergraduate Occupational Therapy or Undergraduate Physical Therapy (B.Sc. Rehabilitation Science)Ìýprior to the CASPer deadline.Ìý Please take note of the final testing dates available for 2024 inter-faculty transfer requests, and further information concerning CASPer may be found below.

Spaces Available:

Occupational Therapy Program: The admissions process for the OT program is highly competitive, and there are limited places available for transfer students.Ìý Applicants should have a minimum cGPA of 3.3 out of 4.0 at the time of application. The selection of transfer applicants is based on academic achievement, particularly in science-related courses both at the pre-university (pre-requisite) and university level, as well as suitability to the profession. Decisions are also based on space availability within the program.

Applicants may be contacted for an interview with member(s) of the faculty. ÌýAll applicants will be notified during the summer months, whether or not they are accepted into the program.

Physical Therapy Program: The admissions process for the PT program is highly competitive. A maximum of three students will be accepted through inter-faculty transfer each year. The selection of transfer applicants is based on academic achievement at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ and performance on the CASPer test. Applicants should have a minimum cGPA of 3.7 at the time of application, but even a 4.0 cGPA will not guarantee acceptance. Students with strong academic records are encouraged to consider applying to the Graduate Qualifying Year for the MSc(A)PT program in the final semester of their current undergraduate degree.

Inter-faculty transfer applicants will be notified of the status of their application during the summer months.

All of the above documents must be submittedÌýno later than April 1st.

Late submission of documents or non-receipt of documentsÌýby the specified date may invalidate your application.

The following situations mean that your application must be addressed to ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Enrolment Services (you do NOT qualify for a ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Inter-Faculty Transfer):
•ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Non-university applicants who have completed a Health Sciences (DEC) or its equivalent, who have met all the pre-requisite requirements.

•ÌýÌý ÌýÌý Transfer students from other universities who have met all the pre-requisite requirements.

•ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Applicants who have completed fewer than 24 ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ course credits.

•ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Applicants who have or will be graduating during winter or summer.

What is Casper?

CASPer is an individual online test that assesses for non-academic competencies and interpersonal characteristics that are important for successful students and graduates of our programs; it complements the other elements in our applicant selection process. The competencies and characteristics include:

• professionalismÌý
• communication
• collaboration
• ethics
• empathy

The CASPer test is comprised of 12 video or text-based scenarios. Following each scenario, you will be required to answer a set of 3 probing questions within a total of 5 minutes; each response is graded by a different rater.

How do I register for CASPer?

Can I take Casper in French or English?

Applicants to the programs offered by the School of Physical and Occupation Therapy requiring CASPer can take the assessment in either or .
The language does not need to be the same as the one you used to submit your application, or the one you prefer for interviews.
Note that other universities or programs may require you to take CASPer in a specific language; consult the relevant institutions directly for more information before selecting your test language.

How can I prepare for CASPer?

Because it is a test of your personal characteristics and non-academic competencies, no studying is required for CASPer.
You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the test structure and technical requirements by exploring the sample CASPer content at , and ensure you have a quiet environment to take the test.Ìý

What are the technical requirements?

In order to take CASPer, you are responsible for securing access to a computer with audio capabilities, a webcam, and a reliable internet connection on your selected test date. CASPer can be taken practically anywhere that you can satisfy the aforementioned requirements.ÌýAfter signing up for the test, you will be able to check your system requirements on the CASPer website before your test date.​
