Prospective Patients

The breast cancer risk assessment clinic is designed to assess patients with:

A family history of breast and/or ovarian cancer: Women with first- or second- degree relatives who have had breast cancer. (First-degree relatives include mother, sister, father, or brother with breast cancer; Second-degree relatives include aunts, uncle, and maternal or paternal grandparents).

Steps to take:

The first step is to obtain a referral or consultation from your primary care provider/family doctor. Direct referrals from our Cancer Genetic Service may occur in the event that a patient has a strong family history of breast cancer but negative or pending genetic testing. If this is the case, we do not require an additional referral from your family doctor. You will be contracted to schedule an appointment.

Please note that the waiting times for the BCRAC is at least one year.
