Support for Indigenous graduate students
First Peoples' House
³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ's First Peoples' House endeavors to provide a sense of community and a voice to Indigenous students who have left their home communities in order to pursue higher education. All Indigenous students including Métis, the Inuit, & First Nations (both "status" & "non-status"), Maori and Aborigines are welcome.
The First Peoples' House hosts drumming and beading sessions, a weekly Soup and Bannock lunch, and an annual Pow wow. They also offer academic events throughout the year.
The First Peoples’ House also functions as a home away from home for Indigenous students by providing a spacious and welcoming residence for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Indigenous Access ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ (IAM)Â
First Nations, Inuit and Métis students in the School of Social Work are supported by the Indigenous Access ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ (IAM) program. Students have access to personalized orientation to their program of study in addition to mentoring and tutoring opportunities. Throughout your studies there are also opportunities for professional development and connecting with other Indigenous students across ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. To learn more, visit the Indigenous Access ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ (IAM) program page.
