TLS and SKILLSETS

Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) works to support you through the breadth and depth of your education and to foster a community of people who love to teach and are excited to learn.

TLS also runs SKILLSETS, a suite of workshops for graduate students that provide general, transitional, and profession skill-development opportunities to compliment your research training. These include:

  • 3MT/MT180: The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a global competition founded by the University of Queensland in 2008, that cultivates graduate students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills.

  • Leadership Workshop Series: This series aims to introduce you to the general concept of leadership and guide you to identify the relevance of leadership in your career path, assess your strengths and weaknesses, and have the opportunity to begin to conceptualize concrete plans for achieving growth.

  • Teaching Assistant Training: Offered biannually in January and September, these workshops provide opportunities for you to develop your teaching skills, connect with your peers, and enhance your experience as a Teaching Assistant.

  • Supervision Training: These workshops provide opportunities to identify strategies for improving your supervisory relationship, learn about the resources ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ offers supervisees, and enhance your skills in a hands-on way.
