³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ offers a joint MDCM/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program through the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry.Ìý The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. Additionally, the MDCM degree is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education and the Council on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools.
Upon successful completion of this 6-year program, students will receive anÌýMDCM degreeÌýfrom the Faculty of Medicine and aÌýCertificate in Oral and Maxillofacial SurgeryÌýfrom the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences.
The program is primarily based at the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Health Centre (MUHC), operating out of the Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Montreal General Hospital. The department offers recently renovated learning and teaching spaces that enable experiential and collaborative exchanges between teachers, residents and patients. The hospital is a level-one trauma centre serving downtown Montreal and the surrounding areas.
There is also a component of study and practice in The ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Health Centre (MUHC). The MUHC is one of the most comprehensive university centers in North America. Each year it receives over 802,000 ambulatory visits, including 134,000 emergency department visits.

The language of instruction is English.
Residents are not permitted to pursue a Master’s or PhD degree while in an OMFS program.Ìý Residents cannot be registered in two programs at the same time.

Additional training
As the goal of the program is to train both practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons and surgeons who intend to pursue academic careers and research, an optional additional year is offered for residents who wish to complete the requirements for a Master of Science (MSc) degree.
