During the rotation, students will be integrated into the听team of the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit and will gain experience in the multidisciplinary management of chronic pain. The team consists of physicians of different disciplines听as well as allied health professionals.

During their rotation students will learn the basics of non-invasive and invasive pain therapies听including non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches and听how to:听

1.听 Appreciate听of the complex, multi-dimensional nature of chronic pain

2.听 Develop interpersonal and communication skills with听complex chronic pain patients

3.听 Function in a multidisciplinary team setting

4.听 Evaluate and develop therapeutic treatment plans for patients with chronic pain

In addition to听active participation in the unit鈥檚 clinical activities students are expected to听attend听clinical rounds听and all educational sessions.
