With a compassionate and insightful approach, Alissa strives to always create a secure therapeutic environment where self-awareness, personal growth, and mindfulness flourish. Drawing from her experience in different wellness environments, she advocates for a holistic perspective on well-being and mental health.聽
Alissa holds a Bachelor's degree in the Specialization of Psychology from Concordia University and a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Alissa has honed her skills through a diverse background in non-profit organizations and community settings.聽
Alissa鈥檚 expertise spans many issues, including self-confidence, stress management, resilience, overcoming adversity, fears, perfectionism, communication, and trauma and loss. In her counseling sessions, she incorporates elements from different evidence- based approaches, such as Strengths-Based, Acceptance and Commitment, Person-Centered and Trauma-Focused approaches.聽
During her experience as a Counsellor at the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre, Alissa played a pivotal role in helping clients overcome life adversities and find acceptance, deepening her understanding of trauma, loss, and grief processing. Additionally, as a Youth Protection Delegate at Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, she contributed to the well-being of youth and families, addressing intergenerational patterns of mental health.聽
Alissa's engagement with clients is marked by empathy and sensitivity, considering diverse cultures, racial, religious backgrounds, and sexual orientations. Her specialized training in cultural awareness and Indigenous studies equips her with valuable insights for preserving and respecting the culture, values, and traditions of different communities.聽
As a Certified Canadian Counsellor and the elected President of the Quebec Counselling Association since 2020, Alissa is also a dedicated advocate for mental health. Her commitment to the well-being of individuals and communities is reflected in her continuous work, fostering growth and healing.聽
