Description
Artificial Intelligence is gaining increasing legitimacy as a tool for academic research and writing. What is the current state of AI and writing towards scholarship? How have universities moved towards adapting to this phenomenon and what does this shift in the technological landscape represent to students who wish to proactively use AI?听听This workshop will consider both the AI tools that can currently be used as part of university writing as well as the ethics of responsible AI use and the recommended practices to integrate it with due diligence in an academic practice.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
鈥� Benefit from an overview to the current AI landscape in university culture
鈥� Consider critically the role of AI in academic writing
鈥� Be introduced to a range of tools that can be applied towards their own writing

Instructions
Have on hand an approx. 200-word summary of a text which you would like to expand on using AI.

Facilitator
Alex Megelas is a Montreal-based educator and researcher. He is the Manager of Operations, Strategic Initiatives, and Partnerships at the Concordia University Applied AI Institute and teaches at the Saint Paul University School of Conflict Studies. His work focusses on community-university engagement, technology and local agency, and the practices of community-based action research.
