With the commencement of lectures in the fall a meeting of the executive of the Commercial Society was called, and it was decided to have the meetings of the Society in the form of luncheons which were to be held at intervals throughout the year in the grill room of the Union. That decision has proved justified by the generally admitted success of the meetings already held.

These luncheons have always succeeded in bringing together a goodly number of the members of the Society because of the practice of having prominent men in the financial and industrial world give talks on the various Canadian undertakings and achievements. Topics of such a nature have proved both beneficial and interesting to the Commerce students.

Some little time before the end of November, the Society was fortunate enough to have Mr. R. O. Sweezy, President of the Beauharnois Company Limited, give an outline of the 鈥淓conomic Development of the St. Lawrence.鈥 This talk, delivered in a clear and forceful manner, was of such interest that it remained part of the students鈥 conversation for a considerable time.

Owing to unforeseen difficulties in obtaining speakers, luncheons have not been held regularly However, a programme was arranged which consisted of talks on the pulp and paper industry, advertising and several other subjects of Canadian interest, and the latter part of January saw the grill room of the Union the centre of the Society鈥檚 activities once more.
